Should have been a blonde
So once again we are having vehicle problems, we go through more vehicles than most people. Jake's van is currently at the shop, we are trying to figure it out, thought it might be a spark plug so yesterday on my lunch I changed the spark plug. Yes, I did it all by myself, but not surprising to those of you that know I change my own oil too! Jake has been driving my car & I have been driving my mom's trailblazer for the past week.
We are having a picnic Sunday afternoon (after HuHot of course) at the park, on my lunch today I zipped over to Hy-Vee to pick up supplies to make some yummy treats. After spending nearly my whole lunch hour shopping, I checked out & went to mom's blazer. I pushed the unlock thingy on the key fob but it didn't make the little noise, hmm that's weird I know I locked it. Oh well, I opened the back hatch, hmmm I don't remember that this stuff was back here, where am I going to put these groceries?
All of a sudden I looked up and a guy turns around from the front passenger seat and says "Excuse me." Oh poop, I'm at the wrong car. I shut his hatch and walk to the next aisle unlock the right blazer, unload my groceries & call my momma. I was laughing so hard I couldn't even get the words out, she was laughing because I was laughing, just what we needed for a beautiful Friday!

Summa Time

Carmen has been bugging me to play in the sprinkler since the snow melted. I decided since it was 85 degrees tonight that I would let her play in it for awhile! I'm sure it was a bit chilly but she had fun. Cordell would have joined her but he had baseball practice tonight. Tuesday is his first game! If I have your e-mail I'll try to send out his schedule in the next day or two. This girl is learning early that a mud bath is good for her skin!

Poor Carmen
This is where Jake & I found Carmen fast asleep last night. That was after trying for 2 hours to put her in her bed!

Mother's Day is near

Check out this video, most moms can relate! I met her at WOF 2008, Anita is an awesome person. She has just finished taping a pilot show for a sitcom and I can't wait to see it. Happy Mother's Day to all!
Momsense by Anita Renfroe
Yes she had me crying lol This was 2 months after Carter had died and she asked me how many kids I had. That is always a hard question for me to answer. I have 4, one lives with his mom, 2 live with me & one has wings!! She hugged me & prayed with me, she is amazing!
Mother's Day has a special meaning to me. Of course it's a time for me to reflect on being a mother but it's also the anniversary of my children's baptisms. Cordell in '02 & Carmen in '07. It's a time for me to remember that Jake & I vowed to raise our children in a Christian home. It's also a time for me to reflect on how we are achieveing that. It brings me great joy to know that my children are learning to love, trust & rely on our Lord.

Potty mouth
Everyone warns you about the terrible twos but noone ever tells you that the 3's are even worse. Don't get me wrong, I love this age as she is maturing & growing independent. I thought I'd just share some of her recent conversations with you.
Carmen was coughing one day and then said "Bless Me"
a week later she was coughing and said "Damn Cough" I couldn't help but laugh as it was too cute, unfortunately she thinks that Damn is her new favorite word.
The other night she was in a bad mood and was yelling "Damn it Winnie Pooh" over and over and then went right into "Shut up Mommy, Shut up Mommy" The funny thing was that I wasn't even in the same room let alone talking to her.
Saturday I was asking her to pick up papers that she threw all over the floor and she said "I didn't do it, Noah did" Noah is the dog and I saw her do it. Tonight I was scolding her for drawing with a pen in Cordell's library book when she said "i didn't do it, mommy you lieing"
She got a treat out of the cupboard for Noah tonight telling him over & over to sit, he wouldn't listen to her command so she said "Noah sit on your tail"
I realize this is just a stage (that I hope she outgrows) but my how can I tell her that what she is saying isn't appropriate when alls I do is bust out laughing lol
Oh and good news we had a bull calf born today, so there is still hope that some of our new cows were pregnant when dad bought them!
I don't have any new pics to post of my kids but thought I would share a couple of Savannah. That girl is getting so big, she is already signing please, more & thank you. I think it would be awesome if my parents adopted her and her sister, but I don't think thats the plan. Oh well we will love on them while we can. Out of the 14 foster kids that they have had in their care, they have adopted four so I think they are due for a few more!! ;) For anyone who doesn't know, I was a spoile rotten only child for 18 years. Mark, Tyler & Destiny were adopted one week before Cordell was born. Ricky the youngest was adopted in November 2007, he is 3 months younger than his nephew, Cordell. I always wanted siblings but they waited way too long. I don't feel like I have four siblings, I feel like I have 4 extra kids, but I wouldn't trade them for the world (most days anyway).

Updates!!
It's been awhile since my last post and thought I'd update you on what we have been up to.
We never did have anymore calves so we called the vet out to test the bull. Well after doing her little thing she looked into the microscope and didn't see any sperm. The second sample only showed dead sperm. So there you have it the bull my dad spent good money on is worthless. He had papers from when he bought the bull that proved he was good, but those burnt up in the fire.

Father Abraham

Last Saturday we butchered 13 of our chickens. It only took about 5 hours and honestly wasn't too bad. Even Miss Carmen was plucking feathers willingly towards the end of the day. We froze them and haven't yet cooked one. I'll let you know how it tastes. We still have 13 left that we will do here in a week or so.
My oldest brothers Tyler & Mark

On Friday Carmen and I went to Omaha with Cordell for his field trip. We toured the Omaha zoo and also watched an Imax movie. This was Carmen's first movie experience and she absolutely loved the 3-D movie, even without the 3-D glasses on! They just opened a new ride up called Skyfari, it's a chairlift type ride that takes you across the park. The kids were a little apprehensive but ended up enjoying it by the time we reached our destination.
