He Gave His Only Son!
AFTER A FEW OF THE USUAL SUNDAY EVENING HYMNS, THE CHURCH'S PASTOR SLOWLY STOOD UP, WALKED OVER TO THE PULPIT AND, BEFORE HE GAVE HIS SERMON FOR THE EVENING, HE BRIEFLY INTRODUCED A GUEST MINISTER WHO WAS IN THE SERVICE THAT EVENING. IN THE INTRODUCTION, THE PASTOR TOLD THE CONGREGATION THAT THE GUEST MINISTER WAS ONE OF HIS DEAREST CHILDHOOD FRIENDS AND THAT HE WANTED HIM TO HAVE A FEW MOMENTS TO GREET THE CHURCH AND SHARE WHATEVER HE FELT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR THE SERVICE . WITH THAT, AN ELDERLY MAN STEPPED UP TO THE PULPIT AND BEGAN TO SPEAK. 'A FATHER, HIS SON, AND A FRIEND OF HIS SON WERE SAILING OFF THE PACIFIC COAST ' HE BEGAN. 'WHEN A FAST APPROACHING STORM BLOCKED ANY ATTEMPT TO GET BACK TO THE SHORE. THE WAVES WERE SO HIGH, THAT EVEN THOUGH THE FATHER WAS AN EXPERIENCED SAILOR, HE COULD NOT KEEP THE BOAT UPRIGHT AND THE THREE WERE SWEPT INTO THE OCEAN AS THE BOAT CAPSIZED.' THE OLD MAN HESITATED FOR A MOMENT, MAKING EYE CONTACT WITH TWO TEENAGERS WHO WERE, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE SERVICE BEGAN, LOOKING SOMEWHAT INTERESTED IN HIS STORY. THE AGED MINISTER CONTINUED WITH HIS STORY, 'GRABBING A RESCUE LINE, THE FATHER HAD TO MAKE THE MOST EXCRUCIATING DECISION OF HIS LIFE: TO WHICH BOY WOULD HE THROW THE OTHER END OF THE LIFE LINE. HE ONLY HAD SECONDS TO MAKE THE DECISION. THE FATHER KNEW THAT HIS SON WAS A CHRISTIAN AND HE , ALSO, KNEW THAT HIS SON'S FRIEND WAS NOT. THE AGONY OF HIS DECISION COULD NOT BE MATCHED BY THE TORRENT OF WAVES. AS THE FATHER YELLED OUT, 'I LOVE YOU, SON!' HE THREW OUT THE LIFE LINE TO HIS SON'S FRIEND. BY THE TIME THE FATHER HAD PULLED THE FRIEND BACK TO THE CAPSIZED BOAT, HIS SON HAD DISAPPEARED BENEATH THE RAGING SWELLS INTO THE BLACK OF NIGHT. HIS BODY WAS NEVER RECOVERED. BY THIS TIME, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE SITTING UP STRAIGHT IN THE PEW , ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR THE NEXT WORDS TO COME OUT OF THE OLD MINISTER'S MOUTH. 'THE FATHER,' HE CONTINUED, 'KNEW HIS SON WOULD STEP INTO ETERNITY WITH JESUS AND HE COULD NOT BEAR THE THOUGHT OF HIS SON'S FRIEND STEPPING INTO AN ETERNITY WITHOUT JESUS.. THEREFORE, HE SACRIFICED HIS SON TO SAVE THE SON'S FRIEND. ' HOW GREAT IS THE LOVE OF GOD THAT HE SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR US. OUR HEAVENLY FATHER SACRIFICED HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WE COULD BE SAVED. I URGE YOU TO ACCEPT HIS OFFER TO RESCUE YOU AND TAKE A HOLD OF THE LIFE LINE HE IS THROWING OUT TO YOU IN THIS SERVICE.' WITH THAT, THE OLD MAN TURNED AND SAT BACK DOWN IN HIS CHAIR AS SILENCE FILLED THE ROOM. THE PASTOR AGAIN WALKED SLOWLY TO THE PULPIT AND DELIVERED A BRIEF SERMON WITH AN INVITATION AT THE END. HOWEVER, NO ONE RESPONDED TO THE APPEAL. WITHIN MINUTES AFTER THE SERVICE ENDED, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE AT THE OLD MAN'S SIDE. 'THAT WAS A NICE STORY,' POLITELY STATED ONE OF THEM, 'BUT I DON'T THINK IT WAS VERY REALISTIC FOR A FATHER TO GIVE UP HIS ONLY SON'S LIFE IN HOPES THAT THE OTHER BOY WOULD BECOME A CHRISTIAN.' 'WELL, YOU'VE GOT A POINT THERE,' THE OLD MAN REPLIED, GLANCING DOWN AT HIS WORN BIBLE. A BIG SMILE BROADENED HIS NARROW FACE. HE ONCE AGAIN LOOKED UP AT THE BOYS AND SAID, 'IT SURE ISN'T VERY REALISTIC, IS IT? BUT, I'M STANDING HERE TODAY TO TELL YOU THAT STORY GIVES ME A GLIMPSE OF WHAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE FOR GOD TO GIVE UP HIS SON FOR> ME. YOU SEE... I WAS THAT FATHER AND YOUR PASTOR IS MY SON'S FRIEND.'
I am Blessed!
This was a poem that I read today and thought that I would share. A few of my blogger friends have been posting 5 things that they are thankful for daily. This helps us to recognize how blessed we are as we tend to forget the good things and dwell on the negative. Below you will find my blessings that I counted today!
I've never made a fortune, and it's probably too late now. But I don't worry about that much, I'm happy anyhow.
And as I go along life's way,I'm reaping better than I sowed.I'm drinking from my saucer,'Cause my cup has overflowed.
Haven't got a lot of riches, and sometimes the going's toughBut I've got loving ones all around me,and that makes me rich enough.
I thank God for his blessings, and the mercies He's bestowed.I'm drinking from my saucer,'Cause my cup has overflowed.
I remember times when things went wrong,My faith wore somewhat thin. But all at once the dark clouds broke, and the sun peeped through again.
So Lord, help me not to gripe, about the tough rows I have hoed.I'm drinking from my saucer,'Cause my cup has overflowed.
If God gives me strength and courage,When the way grows steep and rough.I'll not ask for other blessings,I'm already blessed enough.
And may I never be too busy,to help others bear their loads. Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer,'Cause my cup has overflowed.
When I think of how many people in this world have it worse than I do, I realize just how blessed we really are.

1. Jake & I are both still employed!!
2. I am feeling so much better today.
3. The sun is shining and bright
4.We left the house early this morning, no missing the bus today!
5.Cordell's cough sounded better this morning.
These are just little things, but they are still things that I am thankful for. I could probably do more but I won't bore you to death. I encourage each of you to make a list each day whether written or just a mental note of the joys in your everyday lives.

I am High!!

My mom, my Aunt Deb, my favoritist cousin Sarah & I went to the Women of Faith Conference. This was our 2nd annual trip together and I must say that even though I missed Jake and the kids, I needed this retreat to fill my soul until next time.
Last year at WOF I was in a very low point in my life and I relied on my faith & family to get me through. My relationship with God has grown tremendously, so much so that he has removed my burden of guilt that I was carrying around. I miss Carter so much but January 30th, 2008 was not the last time I will see him. I will see him again in Heaven and I am so greatful for that.
This year at WOF I was able to let go and have so much more fun. We met Mandisa from American Idol, we stayed in the same hotel and rode the elevator with the WOF worship team and one of the speakers. Steven Curtis Chapman put on an amazing performance. The theme from this year seemed to be that even famous people aren't exempt from problems, Patsy Clairmont lost her bff of 50 years, Shelia Walsh 's husband put them in major debt, Mandisa was told by Simon Cowell that she was too fat and Steven Curtis Chapman's daughter Maria was killed in a traffic accident. All of these people were able to overcome and heal because they relied on God and their faith to see them through.
Thank you mom, Deb & Sarah for a wonderful & spiritual weekend. I Love you!
While I was gone my amazing husband and children spent the weekend cleaning house. I came home expecting to have to pick up today but they did it for me. I am very blessed to have such a caring husband and wonderful children.
We still don't have anymore calves, dad said 3 are ready. We did have a stillborn on Friday.
We lost a chick over the weekend as well and the rest are huge already. Jake is doing a wonderful job at raising his chicks!
I hope you all have a blessed week and remember to Be kinder than nessesary, because everyone you meet is fighting some sort of battle...

Updates
As of yesterday morning the 2 stubborn calves had still not been caught. They started the morning on four wheelers and were just going to run them home. The only problem....they couldn't find them, the dumb cows walked back to our house and into their pen. I would have never thought they would do that nor find there own way back 3 miles.
More to come later...
